Carlos Dias was an entrepreneur who became fascinated by watches when he was young by the his Grandfather had purchased while in Brazil. When he was 18 years old he purchased his first watch, a Reverso and ever since became a hobbyist of fine timepieces. Roger Dubuis, a watchmaker, was a developer for Patek Philippe for 14 years before establishing his own atelier in 1980. Carlos Dias met Roger Dubuis in 1980 but would not ask Roger Dubuis to go into business with him making their own watches, under Roger Dubuis name, until 1995.
Roger Dubuis retired in 2003. The Richemont Group currently own 60% of Roger Dubuis SA, an acquisition that transpired in August of 2008.
