Ernest Borel
The birth place of the Ernest Borel watch company was in Neuchatel, Switzerland in 1856. Its current headquarters are located in Le Noirmont, Switzerland. Ernest Borel began as Borel & Courvoisier Company by Jules Borel and his brother-in-law Paul Courvoisier. In 1998, Jules Borel's son Ernest Borel took over the company and changed the name of the company to Ernest Borel & Cie.
What put Ernest Borel in the eyes of the public was when the company won first place at the Neuchatel observatory timing accuracy competition, in 1866, and then repeated in 1870, 1875, 1876 and 1890. Ernest Borel grants a manufacturer's life-time warranty on all of their movements.
The Borel family owned the company up until 1975 when it was acquired by the Synchron Group.
