Blancpain
This company dates all the way back to 1735 and was created by Jean-Jacques Blancpain. Blancpain is said to be the oldest watch company in existance. They pride themselves on creating innovative, and oftentimes highly complicated timepieces. Their slogan "Since 1735, there has never been a quartz Blancpain watch. And there never will be.". Their dedication to this slogan almost collapsed the company in the mid 1970's through the early 1980's. As inexpensive Japanese Quartz movements flooded the markets Fine luxury watches were at a low.
Thanks to the intervention of Jean-Claude Biver, an Omega executive with a love of fine luxury watches, the company was reborn in 1983 and put on the path to recovery. They are now in the top 5 most expensive Timepieces in the world....But don’t forget that every year the order can be different because new timepieces are released by the watch makers.
