Baume et Mercier
The Baume family first established their watch making company, "Freres Baume", in Les Bois, Switzerland, in 1834. It was the drive of two Baume brothers, Joseph Celestin and Louis Victor, that saw the company reach global recognition for having some of the best timepieces.
After World War I in 1918, William Baume and Paul Mercier established Baume et Mercier. After reaching great growth and winning the Poincon de Geneve for flawless quality products in 1921, William Baume retired in 1937. Paul Mercier soon retired after.
Today Baume et Mercier is owned by Compagnie Financiere Richemont S.A., who own Cartier and Piaget as well.
